MANILA BAYWATCH FAQ

WHAT IS THE MANILA BAYWATCH?

The Manila Baywatch is a community watch organization devoted to both environmental protection and crime prevention — as well as providing first-aid services — along the Manila Baywalk.

Members of the Manila Baywatch — deputized by and working alongside and in cooperation with both the DENR and the PNP — will patrol and protect the entire 900m of the Manila Baywalk.

The Manila Baywatch — formed by Manila Bay Beach with invaluable contribution from the Philippine Mountain Rangers and Wildlife Enforcers in January 2023 — is currently accepting its first class of Environmental Soldiers/Mountain Rangers recruits to train to serve (alongside previous Mountain Ranger graduates) in the Manila Baywatch.

After training and graduation, the Environmental Soldiers/Mountain Rangers will be recognized as both an official and significant presence along the Manila Baywalk starting in April 2023.

WHAT IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL SOLDIER/MOUNTAIN RANGER?

An Environmental Soldier/Mountain Ranger is a well-disciplined, honorable, quasi-military volunteer who selflessly serves the environment, wildlife and the community.

An Environmental Soldier does his or her duty with integrity, lives honorably and does not lie, steal, cheat nor tolerate another who does.

WHAT SKILLS WILL I LEARN?

In general, trainees will receive basic military training: survival skills, self-defense, safety, first aid, leadership, courtesy, discipline, situational awareness, law, et cetera.

Manila Baywatch recruits are primarily trained to serve and protect the Manila Baywalk community with both discipline and dignity, to inspire and be an honorable example for others, and most importantly — when called upon — to assist the injured and/or save lives.
