To mark the launch of the event, Manila Bay Beach Radio will present to its listeners a detailed set of rules — which have been established by the manilabaybeach.com editorial staff, and approved by the contest’s Governing Body — regarding the upcoming Manila Bay Beach song contest; however, for those participants who are interested in putting in significant time and effort, the following shall serve as general contest information and guidelines:
- Generous grand prize (first place), 1st Runner-Up (second place) and 2nd Runner-Up (third place) packages — monetary and otherwise — will be awarded,
- The title of the song will be Manila Bay Beach.
- Further, the composition (both lyrics and music) must not have been commercially released — including online video platforms, social networks, semi-publicly accessible platforms/databanks, and/or performed publicly — before their contest submission to Manila Bay Beach Radio,
- Although allowances will be made for artistic expression, the maximum duration of each song should not exceed three minutes. Any song which is longer than three minutes will still be accepted and evaluated — we refer to this as the Bohemian Rhapsody Clause — but must be of the highest quality to not be disqualified (it is the individual artist’s risk to take),
- Contestant(s) may sing in Tagalog, English or Taglish. The Governing Body holds no strong preference, although Taglish would best reach and likely appeal to the largest share of the listening audience,
- Each performance may consist of a maximum of six people (this is to help assure that artists/bands comfortably fit on various stage sizes during potential future live performances),
- The lyrics, sentiment and performance of each song must be non-political in nature and must, of course, celebrate Manila Bay Beach (and its immediate community) in a positive manner,
- All artists — both amateur and professional — and all musical genres will be accepted,
- The lyrics and/or performance of the songs shall not bring the manilabaybeach.com into disrepute; therefore, no lyrics, speeches or gestures of a political, commercial or similar nature shall be permitted, upon submission or into the future. No swearing or other unacceptable language shall be allowed in the lyrics or in the performances of the songs, and
- The Manila Bay Beach Radio Song Contest is the exclusive and legal property of manilabaybeach.com. Further, manilabaybeach.com shall hold (and shall be deemed to be granted) on a worldwide basis, all transferable rights, to be detailed on a later date.
